About Henry de Waroquier
Henry de Waroquier (1881–1970), born Louis Henri Alphonse de Waroquier in Paris, was a versatile French artist – active as a painter, sculptor, graphic artist and teacher – and is associated with the École de Paris. He studied at the École nationale supérieure des arts décoratifs and later taught at institutions including the École Estienne and the Académie Scandinave in Paris. His extensive body of work includes landscapes, portraits, still lifes, as well as prints and sculptures. Waroquier’s works are now held in major collections, including the Musée d’Orsay in Paris and the Museum voor Schone Kunsten in Ghent. His art combines classical techniques with modern forms of expression and reflects a deep understanding of form, composition and figurative representation.
