About Corneille
Corneille (1922–2010), whose real name was Guillaume Cornelis van Beverloo, was a co-founder of the international CoBrA movement and is regarded as one of the most significant figures of post-war European modernism. His works are characterised by intense colours, expressive forms and poetic motifs such as women, birds, cats and landscapes. In addition to paintings and lithographs, Corneille also created highly sought-after original posters and prints, which made his distinctive visual language accessible to a wide audience and are now highly prized by collectors of modern art.
