Maruman DL-12K piezoelectric lighter – gold-plated, Japan, c. 1973
This Maruman DL-12K piezo-electric lighter is an interesting Japanese collector’s item from the 1970s. The original documentation provided dates back to 1973 and offers a good indication of the lighter’s period of manufacture.
The compact lighter has a gold-plated, finely textured surface and is marked on the underside with, amongst other things, ‘Maruman’, ‘Piezo Electric’, ‘DL-12K’, ‘22 GP’ and ‘Made in Japan’. The piezo ignition system enables the spark to be generated electrically without the need for a traditional flint.
Of particular interest to collectors is the largely complete set of accessories: the lighter is offered in its original packaging with red velvet/velour lining. The original documentation, including the warranty/service document from 1973, is also included.
