Fendi Monogram Zucca – iconic pattern
The Fendi FF Monogram is one of the most recognisable trademarks in the world of Italian luxury. The distinctive pattern featuring the interlocking double Fs was designed by Karl Lagerfeld in 1965 and has since come to symbolise the Roman fashion house’s unmistakable design language. Originally developed as a symbol for ‘Fun Fur’, the FF logo now features on numerous bags, accessories and luggage items. Particularly well-known is the classic Fendi Zucca pattern with its large-scale FF motifs in brown and black. Alongside this, the more delicate Zucchino pattern offers a subtle interpretation of the famous monogram.

Special notes
- Historical origins: The famous FF logo was designed by Karl Lagerfeld for Fendi in 1965. It went on to become one of the most recognisable monograms in luxury fashion.
- Meaning of ‘Zucca’: ‘Zucca’ is the term used for the large-scale, repeated FF monogram. The Italian word literally means ‘pumpkin’.
- Zucca vs. Zucchino: ‘Zucca’ refers to the larger FF pattern, whilst ‘Zucchino’ describes a smaller, more densely arranged variant of the same monogram.
- FF Monogram: The distinctive double-F logo consists of two mirror-image Fs and is often referred to as the FF monogram.
- Not a specific bag shape: Zucca is a pattern, not a specific bag shape. It can be found on Baguette Bags, shoulder bags, shopper bags, Boston bags, pochettes and numerous accessories.
- Materials: The FF pattern appears on jacquard fabrics, canvas and coated textiles, amongst others. The exact material composition varies depending on the model and year of manufacture.
- Fendi Baguette: The Zucca monogram became particularly well-known through the Fendi Baguette, launched in 1997, which went on to become one of the brand’s iKON bags.
- Vintage character: Zucca bags from the 1990s and early 2000s are particularly characteristic of the classic Fendi look of that era.
- Hardware: Depending on the model, gold-coloured, silver-coloured or other metal fittings are used. The distinctive FF buckles are particularly well known.
- Wearing options: Depending on the model, the bags may feature short shoulder straps, long carrying straps, handles or detachable shoulder straps.
- Vintage models: When inspecting second-hand Zucca bags, particular attention should be paid to the fabric surface, corners, leather trims, handles, zips, lining and metal fittings.
- Differences between models: Dimensions, materials, internal layout and features can vary significantly depending on the bag model, year of manufacture and collection.
