Fendi Peekaboo

The Fendi Peekaboo is one of the best-known handbag designs from the Italian luxury label Fendi. Since its launch in 2008, it has come to symbolise an unmistakable blend of classic elegance and modern design. Its defining features are its clean silhouette, the distinctive twist lock and the unique construction, which allows one side of the bag to be opened slightly, revealing the interior. It is precisely this playful detail that gave the Peekaboo its name.

Special notes

  • Historical origins: The Fendi Peekaboo was unveiled in 2008 and launched in 2009. It was designed by Silvia Venturini Fendi and is one of the brand’s most famous handbag models.
  • Naming: The name ‘Peekaboo’ refers to the English children’s game ‘Peek-a-boo’. The bag plays on the alternation between a concealed and visible interior.
  • Distinctive design: Typical features include the trapezium-shaped silhouette, the sturdy handle and the two distinctive twist locks.
  • Interior: Many Peekaboo models feature two main compartments separated by a central divider. In X-Lite variants, the internal construction may differ significantly.
  • Peekaboo Iconic vs. ISeeU: The Iconic refers to the classic model generation. The ISeeU is a modernised interpretation with a redesigned construction and a more emphasised interior.
  • Peekaboo X-Lite: This version has a minimalist interior design, giving it a softer and Lässig look than the classic Peekaboo.
  • Selleria: The Selleria versions are characterised by traditional leatherwork and distinctive visible hand-stitching.
  • Carrying options: Many models feature a removable and adjustable shoulder strap in addition to the fixed handle. The features vary depending on the model.
  • Hardware: Gold-coloured and palladium-coloured metal fittings are particularly common. The colour and finish vary depending on the collection.
  • Materials: The Peekaboo is available in various types of leather, fabrics and material combinations. Calfskin and Selleria leather are particularly common.
  • Vintage models: When purchasing second-hand Peekaboo bags, particular attention should be paid to the leather edges, corners, handles, twist locks, inner lining, central divider and shoulder strap attachments.
  • Exotic leathers: Bags made from protected animal species may be subject to specific species protection requirements and trade restrictions.
  • Differences between models: Dimensions, internal layout, materials and features can vary significantly depending on the year of manufacture, size and model generation.
