S.T. Dupont Ligne 1 – Vintage lighter with silver-plated guilloché decoration, 1970s

This elegant S.T. Dupont Ligne 1 lighter dates from the 1970s and is a classic example of French luxury accessories. Manufactured in France, this gas lighter combines the characteristic shape of the Ligne 1 series with an intricately designed, silver-plated surface featuring a guilloché pattern .

Particularly striking is the delicate, interlocking line pattern, which lends the surface an interesting texture and an elegant play of light. The clean, rectangular shape and the meticulously crafted details make the lighter a quintessential example of the classic S.T. Dupont collections.

The lighter features a gas-powered double burner with a yellow flame . Opening the lid produces the characteristic metallic sound for which S.T. Dupont lighters are renowned.

This example is in working order and ignites reliably . However, the flame currently only reaches a limited height. A technical inspection or service is therefore recommended to optimise its performance if necessary.

It is in good condition, as befits its age . The silver-plated casing shows a natural patina as well as slight scratches and signs of wear. These are consistent with the age and previous use of the lighter. The original packaging is not included.

About S.T. Dupont and the Ligne 1 collection

S.T. Dupont was founded in Paris in 1872 by Simon Tissot-Dupont. The French company initially specialised in high-quality leather goods and travel accessories before making a name for itself internationally with exclusive lighters and writing instruments.

In 1941, S.T. Dupont began developing luxury lighters. The range, later known as Ligne 1, is one of the brand’s classic lighter collections. It is characterised by its rectangular shape, high-quality metal finishes and precision-engineered mechanisms.

Particularly distinctive are the various decorative finishes, including guilloché patterns, vertical lines and geometric designs . Many models were gold-plated or silver-plated and are now sought-after collector’s items.

This S.T. Dupont Ligne 1 with a silver-plated guilloché finish epitomises the classic design of French luxury lighters from the 1970s. The combination of decorative finish, traditional mechanism and age-appropriate patina lends the piece its characteristic vintage charm.
